Insights, Google and reviews — common questions

Quick answers on the Insights page tabs (Traffic, Google Search, Business Profile, Reviews, Google Ads), how visitors are counted, the SEO checklist, and why a card says "not connected" or shows no data.

Where to find it

Insights (sidebar) → Traffic, Google Search, Business Profile, Reviews and Google Ads tabs

Short answers about the Insights page: how many people visit your website, how you show up on Google, your reviews, and what to fix.

Where to find it

Click Insights in the sidebar (subtitle "Visitors & Google"). Tabs run along the top: Traffic, Google Search, Business Profile, Reviews and Google Ads. Some tabs only appear when the feature behind them is available to you.

Common questions

Who can open Insights, and why don't I see every tab?

Owners, managers and staff can open Insights. Traffic and Google Search are always there. Reviews appears for roles allowed to view reviews. Business Profile and Google Ads only appear once Renta has switched those Google features on for the platform. The Improve your SEO checklist on the Traffic tab is shown only to owners and managers, because its fix links need website-editing permission.

What does the Traffic tab show?

The Storefront traffic card: Visitors and Visitor → booking for the last 30 days, a chart of visitors by day, and lists for Top Pages, Top Referrers, Top Countries, Device Breakdown and UTM Campaigns (Source, Medium, Campaign, Visitors). See How many people are visiting your site.

How does Renta count visitors?

Renta's own first-party tracking on your public website, with no cookies and no third-party scripts. Visitors are counted per day: one person who comes back on three days counts three times.

What does "Visitor → booking" mean?

An approximate share of visitors who went on to book. Phone and walk-in bookings, and any booking made before tracking started, have no matching visit and are left out, so treat it as a guide, not an exact rate.

Why does it say "Tracking started" on a date, with less than 30 days?

Renta only measures from the day tracking began. Days before that were never measured and are left off the chart; they are not days with no visitors.

Why does it say "No storefront visits recorded"?

Nobody has visited your public site in that window, or tracking has only just started. A different message, "Visitor data couldn't be loaded just now — this isn't a count of zero", means the numbers could not be read; refresh in a moment.

Do my own visits count?

While you are signed in to Renta as staff, visits to your Renta address are not counted. On your own custom domain that sign-in is not visible, so your visits do count; a "Stop counting this browser" link under the heading opens your site once and remembers this device so it stops counting. See Connecting your own domain name.

What are Top Referrers and UTM Campaigns?

Top Referrers are the websites that sent people to you (a search engine, a social site, another business). UTM Campaigns list visits that arrived through links you tagged with campaign names (the "utm_source", "utm_medium" and "utm_campaign" parts of a link), such as an email or ad link. Only the first page of each visit carries this information.

Is Insights the same as installing Google Analytics?

No. Insights uses Renta's own counting. Installing your own Google Analytics or Tag Manager is a separate setting; see Renta's own tracking vs. yours and Installing Google Analytics or Tag Manager.

What is "Improve your SEO"?

A checklist at the top of the Traffic tab (owners and managers only) that checks your website automatically. It gives an SEO basics score, which is how many of your live pages have a search title, a search description and focus keywords filled in (it checks for blanks, not for good writing), with a label: Looking good (90% or more), Nearly there (70%), Needs work (40%) or Needs attention (below 40%). A list of your live pages and their keywords sits under it. Findings are marked Critical, High, Medium or Low, and each has a button that opens the exact screen that fixes it. It says "Nice work — no SEO issues found" when everything passes. See Fixing SEO problems Renta finds.

What does "Your site is telling Google not to list it" mean?

Your account is not live yet, so your website publishes a "do not index" instruction and an empty sitemap. Google will not list any page until you finish going live. Use the finding's link, or see Going live.

What does "(page name) is published but invisible to Google" mean?

That page is marked published, but its content is saved in an old format the site can no longer show, so visitors and Google reach an error. Open the page in the Site Builder and save it once; saving upgrades it.

What does "Your domain isn't verified yet" mean?

You added a custom domain but it has not finished connecting, so visitors and Google still use your Renta address. Finish the DNS steps; see common questions about domains.

What are the common High, Medium and Low findings?

High: a page has no search title, no search description or no main heading, two pages share the same title or description, a page reads almost identically to another, or Google's business data has no address, phone or hours. Medium: missing phone, hours, address, logo or social links in your business data, no approved reviews yet, fleet items without descriptions or photos, a page with almost no text, writing kept in custom code, or links to pages that do not exist. Low: no focus keywords, no favicon (the tiny browser-tab icon), gallery photos without alt text, or links that just say "click here". Each finding says why it matters and links to the fix.

How do I fix a missing search title or description?

Open the finding's fix button, or go to the Site Builder → Pages → the page's Settings, and fill in Meta title and Meta description. See Website and Site Builder common questions.

How do I connect Google Search Console and Google Analytics?

Press Connect Google on the Google Search tab, or go to Settings → Integrations → Google Search Console & Analytics, sign in with Google and choose the Search Console site and Analytics property. Connecting needs a paid plan; without one the page says "Connecting Google requires a paid plan". See Connecting Google Search Console, Analytics and your Business Profile.

What does the Google Search tab show?

A Google Search & Analytics card for the last 7 days: Search Console with Clicks, Impressions and Top Queries, and Google Analytics with Sessions, Conversions and Top Pages. Below it are the cards Analytics setup, Is your site on Google?, Search performance, How fast is your page? and Where your search traffic comes from. Until Google is connected it says "Connect Google Search Console and Analytics to see search traffic here."

Why does a Google card say "Not connected", "Access was revoked" or "Temporarily rate-limited"?

Not connected means the link to Google is missing. Access was revoked in your Google account. Reconnect in Settings means you removed Renta's permission in Google; reconnect it. Temporarily rate-limited by Google — try again shortly clears by itself. The selected property is no longer available means the Search Console site or Analytics property you chose no longer exists, so pick another. A line "Data as of ..." means Renta is showing the last reading it saved from Google because a fresh one could not be fetched right now.

What are impressions, clicks, CTR and position?

Impressions is how often your site showed up in Google results, clicks is how often people clicked through, Average CTR is clicks divided by impressions, and Average position is roughly where you ranked (1 is the very top). Each number is compared with the same-length period just before it, and shows "Not enough data yet" when either period is too small to compare fairly.

How do I change the date range in Search performance?

Use the buttons 7 days, 28 days or 3 months at the top of the card.

What are "Searches you almost win"?

Searches where you already show up but not high enough: ranking roughly 4th to 20th with at least 10 impressions ("almost page one"), or ranking in the top 3 but with under 2% of people clicking, which usually means the page title needs rewriting. Each has a one-line suggestion.

What is "Branded vs non-branded search"?

It splits your Google searches into Found you by name (the search included your business name) and New customers searching (it did not). Google hides very rare searches, so the two numbers may not add up to the total and an "Other / hidden" line shows the rest.

What is "From Google search to bookings"?

A four-step funnel: Seen on Google (impressions), Clicked, Visited from search (Renta's own count of visitors who arrived from unpaid search) and Booked (completed bookings whose customer's first visit was an unpaid search). A Bookings by channel list shows where each booking's customer first came from.

How do I track where I rank for a search?

In Top search terms, press Track beside a search to pin it (up to 10). Pinned terms appear under Tracked keywords with "Currently ranked #n" and a rank-over-time line, or "Not ranking yet". Press Stop tracking to remove one. Top search terms can be sorted and show Position, Change, Clicks, Impressions and CTR.

What is "Is your site on Google?"

It asks Google directly whether your pages are in search results. It shows Pages on Google, Not showing up, whether a sitemap is submitted (Renta publishes yours at `/sitemap.xml`), and a Page by page list with each page's status. Google updates this slowly, so a new page can take days to appear. If it says Google only shares this with an Owner, set the connected Google account to Owner in Search Console under Settings → Users and permissions.

What does "How fast is your page?" tell me?

Google's page speed test, for Phone or Computer. It gives an overall score out of 100 (90 or more is Good, 50 to 89 "Could be faster", below 50 Slow) and three measures: Loads its main content in (over 2.5 seconds is slow), Responds to a tap or click in, and Stays put while loading (lower is steadier). It says whether the numbers come from real visitors or from a simulated test.

What is the "Analytics setup" checklist, and why are my Conversions zero?

It lists what is left to set up in Google Analytics, with each item shown as Done, Not done yet or Can't check, and a "How to fix this" or "Set this up here" button. A Conversions figure of zero is usually a missing key event in Analytics, not a business problem, and this checklist is where that is flagged.

What does the Business Profile tab show?

When it is available and your Google Business Profile is connected: How people find you on Google (Times shown, In Search, On Maps, On a phone), What they did next (Visited your site, Tapped to call, Asked for directions, Messaged you), What people searched for, Your Google listing (name, address, phone, website, categories, opening hours) and your Google reviews. Google reports this with a delay, so the last few days can be incomplete. Owners and managers can reply to a review with Post reply. See Your Google Business reviews in one place.

What is the Reviews tab?

Two sub-tabs: Outreach (ask customers for reviews) and Reviews (approve or hide reviews customers left on your site; filter by All, Pending, Approved or Hidden). A review left through your site's review form is approved automatically at 4 or 5 stars; 1 to 3 stars wait as Pending for you to press Approve or Hide. See Approving and linking customer reviews.

How do I ask customers for reviews?

On Outreach, each customer has a card with a tile per review link. Press Email (it becomes Resend once sent), Copy to text it yourself and then Mark sent, or use Email all, Copy all and Mark all sent on the card. A red card means a finished rental you have never asked about, and the Needs request filter finds them. See Asking customers for reviews.

How do I add a Google or Yelp review link?

In the Review links panel on Outreach (shown to people with permission to manage reviews), add a Name and a Link that starts with `https://`. You can edit, delete, reorder, show or hide each link, and set Auto-send to email it a number of hours or days after the rental ends.

What does the Google Ads tab show?

When available and connected: Ad spend, Clicks, Bookings from ads (as reported by your Google Ads conversion tag), Cost per booking and a Campaigns table with Spend, Clicks, Bookings and Cost / booking. Messages offer Reconnect Google, Choose an account or Check the connection when something needs fixing. Add your conversion tag under Installing Google Analytics or Tag Manager.
