Going live: turning on real payments

The one-time switch that moves your business from test bookings to accepting real customer charges.

Where to find it

Dashboard → Go Live (or the setup checklist's "Connect Stripe" step)

Going live is the one-time switch that turns your account from practice mode into a real business that can charge real customers. It finishes connecting your payment processor (Stripe) and flips your account from Demo to Live.

Where to find it

Open the Go Live page from your dashboard. If you're not ready yet, it will walk you through what's still missing.

How it works

1. Renta checks whether your Stripe account (the service that moves customer card payments to your bank) is fully set up. 2. If it isn't, you'll see the Stripe setup screen to finish connecting your bank account and identity information. 3. Once Stripe is connected, you'll see your business details — name, address, email, phone, website — for a final read-only review. 4. Click Confirm & go live. This is the switch: your account moves from Demo to Live. 5. You'll see a success screen with a link back to your dashboard.

For example: if you've been testing bookings for your kayak rental business in Demo mode, going live means the next booking a real customer makes will actually charge their card and send the rental payment to your bank account (see Renta's fee vs. your subscription plan for how Renta's fee fits in).

Good to know

  • You can only go live once your Stripe account is fully verified — Renta cannot skip this, since it's how customer payments legally reach your bank account.
  • If your account is already Live, this page just sends you back to the dashboard — there's no way to "undo" going live from here.
  • Going live doesn't automatically bring over anything you built in Demo mode (fleet, customers, etc.) — that's a separate step, covered in Moving your demo setup into Live.
