Website widgets — common questions
Quick answers on adding and setting up each website block (hero banner, fleet grid, photo gallery, Book Now button, contact map, reviews, FAQ, navbar, footer and more), and why a block may look empty on your live site.
Where to find it
Website (sidebar) → Website builder → Sections tab → Add Section
Short answers about each block you can put on a website page. Blocks are called widgets here and sections in the builder.
Where to find it
Website (sidebar) → Website builder (beta) → Sections tab → Add Section. Click a block on the page to open its settings on the left. Text you can see on the page (headlines, button labels, business name) is edited by clicking it directly, not in the side panel.
Common questions
What blocks can I add to a page?
Navigation Bar, Hero Banner, Book Now Button, Date Picker, Fleet Grid, Text Block, Contact & Map, Contact Form, Reviews, FAQ, Image Gallery, Blog Posts, Portal, Sandbox, Spacer and Footer. Instagram Feed is added to that list only when Instagram has been switched on for Renta. See Building your website with the drag-and-drop editor.
How do I change the headline or button words on a block?
Click the words on the page, type, and use the small toolbar that appears for font, color and size. The side panel keeps only things that cannot be typed on the page: links, layouts, pictures and switches.
How do I make a button call me, email me or text me?
On a Hero Banner button, the link box has a picker: choose one of your pages, or under Actions choose Phone, Email, SMS or Custom and fill in the number, address or web link. See The hero banner widget.
How do I put a video behind my hero headline?
Click the hero, open Appearance, and set Background to Video. Under Upload pick an MP4 or WebM file (or Library, or paste a link under "or paste a URL"). A file over 8 MB opens a panel that trims and shrinks it in your browser before it uploads. Trim (optional) lets you set a start and end second; direct files use both, while YouTube and Vimeo links only use the start time. You can also pick a poster image that shows while the video loads.
How do I use a photo instead of a video behind the hero?
Set Background to Image, then choose a photo with Upload, Stock Images or Library, or paste an image link. Images can be up to 50 MB. Fill in the alt text box ("Describe the image for screen readers"), which also helps Google.
What are the little badges under the hero headline?
That is the Trust Row. Press + Add item (up to 4) and pick Stars, Text, Badge or Google. A Google item shows your live Google rating and review count once your Google Business Profile is connected; see Connecting your Google Business Profile.
What does "Sticky scroll effect" do on the hero?
Under Advanced, it keeps the hero pinned in place while its background fades out as the visitor scrolls. It takes effect on the live site (it uses a scroll feature in current Chrome and Edge; other browsers just show the normal hero), and Renta suggests making the hero at least 6 rows tall for the best result. Full width and the Glass tint and opacity sliders are under Appearance.
How do I show my rentals on my website?
Add a Fleet Grid. Under What to show pick Individual Items (a card for each rental) or Categories (a card for each category such as "Jet Skis"). Category Filter limits items to one category. Open Choose items (or Choose categories) to tick exactly which ones show. Leave Auto-include new ticked and items you add later show up by themselves; untick it to freeze your selection. See The fleet grid widget.
Why is one of my items missing from the fleet grid?
Check these in order: the item is ticked in Choose items; the Category Filter is not set to a different category; the grid is not pinned to another shop under Shop → Show (only appears with 2 or more shops); and the item's status is Available, because the grid only loads Available items. See Item availability controls.
How do I switch the fleet grid to a scrolling row?
Under Appearance, set Layout to Carousel. Motion Style can be Manual (visitors swipe), Auto-rotate (Sec per slide, 1 to 60) or Conveyor (a slow continuous slide, with a Speed slider). For a Grid layout, Rows sets how many rows there are and Renta works out the columns.
How do I change the "Book Now" text on the fleet cards, or hide the descriptions?
In Appearance, the Button row holds the label, font, size and colors; leave the label empty for "Book Now". Item Descriptions (or Category Descriptions) can be Preview, Expandable, Always or Hidden.
What happens when a customer clicks a category card?
In Categories mode, open Advanced → On click and choose Open booking window (a popup already filtered to that category), Show items (the items expand right there, as a Carousel or Show all) or Open my page (a page you built).
Why does a card say "Unavailable"?
Either the item cannot be rented at all right now (for example all units are in the shop), or the dates a visitor picked in a Date Picker on the same page clash with another booking. The button then reads "Unavailable" instead of "Book Now".
How do I let visitors pick dates on my page?
Add a Date Picker. Layout can be Bar, Calendar or Stacked; Band (Dark or Light) applies to Bar only; Size is Small, Medium or Large; Hour picker adds pickup and return times. When a Fleet Grid is on the same page, the dates visitors pick are remembered and the grid rechecks which items are free. See Date picker and Book Now button widgets.
How do I add a Book Now button?
Add a Book Now Button. Its Size, Alignment (Left, Center, Right) and Variant (Primary, Secondary, Outline) are in the panel, and you click the label on the page to rename it. Pre-select fleet item opens the booking window straight to one rental; leave Show full catalog to let visitors browse.
How do I add a photo gallery?
Add an Image Gallery and choose Grid, Carousel or Freeform. Press + Upload files to add many photos at once (you can also drag files in or paste), or + YouTube to add a video. Each photo can have alt text, and in a slot you can zoom, Reset crop or Clear slot. In Grid, Rows and Columns are under Appearance, and Carousel adds a Motion setting (Manual, Auto-rotate or Conveyor); in Freeform, Start editing freeform lets you drag and size photos into a collage and Reset to columns undoes it. See Text blocks and image galleries.
How do I add a pricing table or a row of feature icons?
Add a Text Block and set Layout to Pricing cards or Feature columns (2, 3 or 4 columns); Rich text is the plain paragraph version. Click the heading, subtitle and body on the page to edit them.
How do I show my address, phone, hours and a map?
Add Contact & Map. Under Display switch Map, Phone, Email, Hours and Contact form on or off. Address, phone and hours come from your pickup locations, and Location (under Advanced) picks one location or All locations. See Your pickup and drop-off locations.
Why does my map say "Map unavailable"?
Renta could not get map coordinates for that location, so it shows the address and an Open in Google Maps link instead. It looks the address up automatically, and that fails when the address is not found, when the location has no address at all, or when your account's daily map-lookup allowance has been used up (it resets by itself). Check the address in your location settings is complete and correct.
What do Map style, Zoom and "Click opens in Google Maps" do?
Map style is Streets, Outdoors or Satellite. Zoom runs from 0 to 22 (higher is closer). Map height (px) is at least 120. With Click opens in Google Maps on, tapping the map opens directions.
Where do contact form messages go?
A visitor who sends a message sees "Message sent". It is saved as an inquiry and, when your business has an email on file, emailed to you. If Renta cannot be reached the form falls back to opening the visitor's own email app. See Inquiries inbox and Setting your business contact details.
Why is my Reviews block missing on the live site?
It shows only reviews you have approved, so with none it disappears from the live page (you still see a preview in the builder). Approve reviews under Insights → Reviews; see Approving and linking customer reviews. The block's settings are Max reviews (empty means all), Show rating and Layout (Grid, Carousel or List). A reviewer is shown as first name and last initial.
How do I add FAQs to my page?
Add an FAQ. In the Questions list press + Add, then fill in Question... and Answer...; the arrows reorder them. Visitors see each answer only when they open its question.
How do I show my blog posts on a page?
Add Blog Posts. Show every post lists all published posts (good for a blog page) and Split into pages with Posts per page adds page links; turn it off and set Posts shown for a short teaser. Also Featured lead post, Columns (2, 3 or 4), Show excerpt, Show date and Show "View all posts" link. It appears only when you have published posts. See Common questions about the blog.
How do I show my Instagram photos?
Connect Instagram first under Settings → Integrations (see Connecting Instagram), then add Instagram Feed. Set Posts to show (2 to 24), Columns (desktop) (3, 4 or 5), Show caption on hover and Show Follow button. With no connected posts it shows a hint in the builder and nothing on the live site.
How do I edit my website menu?
Click the Navigation Bar. Under Nav Links press + Link or + Dropdown; the arrows reorder them. Auto-add published pages adds each published page that has Show in navbar on, and a link you add yourself overrides the automatic one. With Auto-add published pages on, a Blog link is also added once you have published blog posts.
How do I add my logo, or a Book Now or cart button to the navbar?
In the Navigation Bar's Content section upload a logo (PNG, JPG or SVG); then Show business name alongside logo and Logo height appear. Under Buttons press + Button for a link button, or + Cart for a button that opens the cart (one cart button only). Click a button on the page to rename it. Color scheme is Dark, Light or Transparent, and Position puts the logo left or right.
Why does the navbar only show on one page?
Turn on Show on all pages under Advanced in the Navigation Bar. It takes effect after you publish. Stick to top when scrolling pins it, and Overlay content below lets it float over the next block (pair it with Transparent for a hero-video look).
How do I change my footer?
Click the Footer. Click the business name, tagline or small print on the page to edit them; type `{year}` in the small print to show the current year automatically. Link Columns holds up to 3 columns of links, Social Links takes Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok or LinkedIn, and Color scheme is Dark or Light. See Navigation bar and footer widgets.
What is the Portal block?
Portal is a grid of clickable image cards (2, 3 or 4 per row). Each card links to a Page, a Section of a page (type its id), an External URL or a Fleet Item. It does not show a customer's bookings. See Portal and spacer widgets.
How do I add blank space or a divider line?
Add a Spacer. Height sets the gap, Match all spacers keeps every spacer on the page the same height, and Background color (or Match canvas background) can turn it into a colored stripe. To add text in the middle, click the divider on the page (Section Label).
Can I paste my own HTML or a booking widget from another tool?
Yes, with a Sandbox block. Paste your HTML, with `<style>` for CSS and `<script>` for JavaScript, into Custom Code. It runs in an isolated frame and cannot read your Renta data. The limit is 50 KB; the counter turns red and publishing is blocked above that. Auto-fit height to content resizes the block to fit.
How do I make a block full width or give it a card or glass look?
Select the block and open Customize style: Full width stretches it across the screen and Widget Style is Transparent, Card or Glass. The Hero Banner has the same options under Appearance; Spacer and Footer do not have this section.
A block looks empty or missing on my live site but fine in the builder. Why?
Several blocks hide themselves on the live page when they have nothing to show: Reviews (no approved reviews), Blog Posts (no published posts) and Instagram Feed (nothing connected). The builder shows placeholders so you can see them. Also check the page itself is published; see Website and Site Builder common questions.
