Marking a unit as sold
Record the sale of one physical unit so it stops being bookable, leaves your asset totals, and shows its gain or loss against book value.
Where to find it
Fleet → open an item → Details → a unit → Mark as sold
When you sell a jet ski, bike, or trailer you used to rent out, record the sale on that unit's page. The unit stops being bookable, and Renta keeps the sale price, date, and buyer on its record.
Where to find it
Fleet → open the item → Details → click the unit. The Mark as sold button sits under the unit's name, next to "Added" and the date. This only exists for items tracked as individual units — see Item variants: color, size, and other options.
How it works
1. Click Mark as sold. 2. Fill in the form:
- Sale price (dollars) — required, and it must be more than $0.
- Date sold — today by default. It can't be in the future.
- Sold to — optional.
- Note — optional.
3. Click Mark as sold again to confirm.
What happens next:
- The unit is no longer bookable and moves to your archived inventory (its status becomes Retired).
- If it was the last active unit on the item, the whole item is archived.
- The unit's page shows a Sold banner: "Sold Oct 2, 2026 for $3,500.00 to …", plus how far above or below book value (its current value) the price was. The comparison only shows when the unit has a current value — see How a unit's value depreciates over time.
- The unit leaves your fleet-wide asset totals — see Your whole fleet's asset value.
Undoing a sale
On a sold unit, click Undo sale in the banner and confirm. The sale record is cleared and the unit goes back to the status it had before the sale. If the item was archived because this was the last unit, it stays archived; restore it from the Fleet list (Status filter → Archived → Restore). While a unit is sold you can't change its status by hand — undo the sale first.
Example
You sell "Jet Ski #2" for $3,500 and its book value is $4,100. The banner reads "Sold Oct 2, 2026 for $3,500.00 · $600.00 below book value." Two weeks later the buyer backs out, so you click Undo sale and the jet ski is bookable again.
Good to know
- If the unit is assigned to upcoming bookings, the form warns you: "This unit is assigned to 2 upcoming bookings. Move them to another unit first, or the customers could show up to a unit you no longer have." Reassign those bookings before you confirm.
- Sold is different from Retired. Retiring a unit just takes it out of service; a sale also records the price, date, and buyer.
