Overnight rentals

Choose whether gear stays out through the night or comes back every day when a customer books several days, for your whole shop and per item.

Where to find it

Fleet (the switch at the top of the page), and Fleet → open an item → Availability tab → Overnight rentals

This setting decides what happens when a customer books more than one day. If overnight is on, a run of days is one continuous rental and the gear stays with the customer through the night. If it is off, each day is booked as its own block and the gear comes back every night.

Where to find it

  • Whole shop: Fleet → the switch at the top of the page, labeled Items can be rented overnight.
  • One item: Fleet → open the item → Availability tab → Overnight rentals.

How it works

1. The shop switch is the default for every item. Flip it and it saves right away. 2. On an item, the Overnight rentals menu has three choices:

  • Use shop default — the menu also tells you what that currently means, for example "Use shop default (currently return nightly)".
  • Allow overnight — this item can stay out through the night, whatever the shop default says.
  • Return nightly — each selected day becomes its own block for this item.

3. Click Save Changes on the item to keep a change you made on it.

Example

A kayak shop turns the switch off because every kayak must be back at the dock each evening. A customer who picks Saturday and Sunday gets two separate day blocks, not one block running through Saturday night. The shop's paddle-board trailer, which customers keep for a weekend, is set to Allow overnight so it can still go out as one block.

Good to know

  • If nobody has saved the switch yet, it counts as off, so gear returns each night. Turn it on if your customers keep gear overnight.
