Questions and answers
How do I add a pickup location?
Go to Settings → Locations and press + Add Location. Fill in Name and Address (both required), and optionally Phone, Location timezone, Sales tax rate for this location, and Operating Hours. Then press Add Location. The setup guide also has a "Pickup location" step near the start (see The guided setup tour).
Is a location the same thing as a shop?
Yes, in practice. Each location is one shop. Once you have two or more, a Shop menu appears in the top bar of the admin, with All shops and one entry per shop. See Running more than one shop.
How do I choose which location is the default?
The first row in the table is the default and carries a Default badge. Press Make default on any other row to move the badge. The default is pre-selected on the booking desk and is used for opening hours when a booking has no location.
How do I edit a location?
Press Edit on its row. The form opens as Edit Location with the current values, and the button reads Update Location.
How do I delete a location?
Press Delete on its row and confirm "Delete this location?" with Delete. If Renta cannot delete it you see a red message above the table instead. Deleting cannot be undone from this page.
What does "Location timezone" do?
It sets the clock that this location's Operating Hours are read in. The default choice is "Same as tenant default (General Settings)", which follows your business timezone. Pick a specific timezone only if the shop is in a different one. See Business details and general settings.
How do I charge a different sales tax at one location?
Type a percentage into Sales tax rate for this location, for example 8.75. Leave it blank to use the business-wide rate from General settings (the box shows "Business default"). Type 0 to charge no sales tax on rentals picked up there. The hint under the box tells you which of the three you picked, and the Tax rate column in the table shows the result.
How do I set my opening hours?
In the form, each day from Monday to Sunday has a pair of time pickers (open and close) in 30-minute steps. A new location starts at 9:00 to 17:00 for every day. Change the pickers for the days that differ.
How do I mark a day as closed?
Tick Closed next to that day. The time pickers disappear for that day, and unticking it brings them back.
Why can't I add another location? It says "demo limit"?
While your account is still a trial (before you go live), Renta limits it to 2 locations by default. You see "You've reached the demo limit of 2 locations" with two buttons: Request Limit Increase (an email to Renta) and Go Live for Unlimited. Going live removes the trial limits. See Going live: turning on real payments.
Why does the page say "No pickup locations yet"?
You have not added one. The empty state reads "No pickup locations yet. Add your first location above." Press + Add Location.
Can I reorder my locations?
Only the default can be changed. Make default moves that location to the top of the list and keeps the others in their existing order. There is no drag-to-reorder.
Is my location address the same as the business address in General settings?
No, they are separate. The business address under Business Contact in General settings is used on waivers and your Stripe profile. Each location has its own Address, Phone, and hours. Fill in both. See Your business contact details.
Who is allowed to add, edit, or delete locations?
All three roles can, by default. The actions need the "Edit settings" permission, which Owner, Manager, and Staff all have in the Permissions table on the Team page. See Common questions: team members and permissions.
How do I give an item a home shop, or move a booking to another shop?
Those are done on the item and on the booking, not on this page. Open the item in Fleet and find Home shop, or open the booking and use its Shop card. The full steps are in Running more than one shop.
What do customers see when I have more than one shop?
New visitors on your website are asked to choose a shop before they book. The details are in Running more than one shop.
