The guided setup tour

The step-by-step tour that shows you how each setup task is done, then lets you do it yourself, across three levels from "Open for business" to "Advanced".

Where to find it

Dashboard → setup banner; or sidebar → Setup guide

After your account is created, the setup tour walks you through everything needed to take bookings and then to run the business better. For each task it first shows you how it is done, then asks you to do it.

Where to find it

  • On the dashboard, the setup banner has a button that reads Let us walk you through building out your software. The small X on the banner hides it for 7 days.
  • In the sidebar, the Setup guide button at the bottom is always there. It opens a panel with your progress. Once the banner is hidden, Show setup banner again in that panel brings it back the next time you load the dashboard.

The three levels

The Setup guide panel lists three levels, each with a progress bar and a button that says Start, Continue (jumps to your first unfinished step), or Replay (only when every step in the level is done):

  • Wizard 1, Open for business (12 steps): business profile, logo and brand colors, a pickup location, a fleet category, your first fleet item, a waiver, your cancellation policy, checkout and deposits, customizing your dashboard, publishing your website, a practice booking, and connecting Stripe to open your site for bookings.
  • Wizard 2, Run it better (10 steps): inviting your team, seasonal pricing, bundle discounts, coupons, gift cards, email templates, a custom domain, Google reviews, customer view, and maintenance templates.
  • Wizard 3, Advanced (8 steps): the AI assistant chat bubble, Viator and GetYourGuide, Google Analytics and Search Console, QuickBooks, smart locks, the embed booking widget, extra locations, and redirects.

A step that depends on a feature your account doesn't have switched on, such as Google reviews or Viator and GetYourGuide, can be missing from your list.

How a step works

1. A card at the top of the screen shows where you are (for example "Wizard 1 · Step 3 of 12") and the step's name. 2. First it says Watch how it's done... and a ghost cursor shows the clicks on the real screen. Press Skip demo if you'd rather get started. 3. Then it says Your turn and tells you what to do. A few steps, like the practice booking, give a short numbered list. 4. Do the task on the page. The bar at the bottom changes from Not saved yet to Done once Renta confirms the setting is really saved. 5. Next stays greyed out until the step is done. Use Back to return to the previous step. 6. To see the demo again, press Replay this step on the card.

The bottom bar also has Stuck? Ask for help, Exit (you can resume later from the Setup guide), and a Not relevant to me tick box. Ticking it marks the step as not applicable, so you can move on, for steps where that is allowed.

On a phone, the card sits along the bottom of the screen. Some setup screens are easier on a computer.

Good to know

  • The tour checks your real settings, so a step only counts once the thing is actually saved.
  • The dashboard's setup checklist is separate. It checks the money-related basics, and can show open items even after you finish the tour.
  • The first-time signup screens (details and Stripe) are a different, shorter flow: see Setting up your business the first time.
