Audit log — common questions

Quick answers on where to find the audit log, who can open it, what each column means, how to filter it, and why times look different from your own.

Where to find it

Dashboard → Staff Activity card → View all (the Audit Log page has no sidebar link)

Short answers about the Audit Log, the record of who did what in your account and when.

Where to find it

There is no Audit Log link in the left sidebar. On the owner Dashboard, open the Staff Activity card and press View all, or add `/audit` to the end of your admin address. The manager dashboard has no Staff Activity card, so managers use the address. The page title is Audit Log and the header shows how many entries there are in total.

Common questions

Where do I find the audit log?

Open the Dashboard, find the Staff Activity card and press View all. The audit log is not in the sidebar. If your dashboard has Staff Activity hidden, bring it back from the Hidden Widgets tray (see Dashboard common questions), or add `/audit` to the end of your admin address. See Who changed what, and when.

Who can open the audit log?

Owners and managers. The Staff role does not have permission to read it, so a staff member cannot open the page.

What does each column mean?

Timestamp is when it happened. Staff is who did it. Action is what was done, such as Created or Updated. Entity is what it was done to, for example a booking, with a short code of the first 8 characters of that record's ID. Details holds a View Changes button when there are changes to show, and a dash when there are none.

What does "System" in the Staff column mean?

No staff member is attached to that entry, so the page shows "System" instead of a name.

Why are the times different from my own clock?

The audit log shows every timestamp in UTC (universal time), not your local timezone. Convert it to your timezone when you compare with a booking or a customer call.

How do I filter the audit log?

Use the menus above the table: All Staff, All Entity Types, All Actions and the From date and To date boxes. Pick what you need and press Apply Filters. Press Reset to clear everything. The To date includes the whole of that day.

How do I see everything one person did?

Choose their name in the All Staff menu and press Apply Filters. Add dates to narrow it to one week or one shift.

How do I see what happened on one particular day?

Put the same date in From date and To date and press Apply Filters. Remember the times are in UTC, so, depending on your timezone, an evening entry can fall on the next UTC day.

How do I find who changed a particular booking, price or setting?

Set Entity Types to what you changed (for example the booking), choose an Action such as Updated, and set the date range around when it happened, then press Apply Filters. There is no free-text search, so use the Entity column's short code (the first 8 characters of the record's ID) to pick out one record in the results.

What does "View Changes" show?

It opens a panel under that row listing exactly what changed, in a technical format with the old and new values. Press Hide to close it. Entries with nothing to show have no button.

Why doesn't the staff menu list everyone?

It loads staff in batches. If there are more people, a Load more staff (shown / total) button appears next to the menu; press it to add the next batch.

How many entries show at a time?

25 per page. When there is more than one page you will see "Page 1 of N (total entries)" with Previous and Next buttons.

Why does it say "No audit log entries found"?

Nothing matches the filters you chose. Press Reset, or widen the dates.

Why can't I see an entry for something that happened?

The Entity Types and Actions menus only list what has actually been recorded for your business so far. If an action never appears there, it has not been recorded in this log. For one booking's own history use the change log on that booking; see The change log on a booking.

Can I edit, delete or export audit entries?

No. The page only reads the log: it has no edit, delete or export buttons.

What is the difference between the Audit Log and the Staff Activity card?

The Staff Activity card on the dashboard is a short feed of the latest actions. The Audit Log is the full, filterable list. For a summary of staff logins and action counts see Staff activity log.
