Setting up two-factor login for your account
Add an authenticator app code requirement to your own login for extra security, with recovery codes as a backup.
Where to find it
Settings → Security → Your authenticator app section
Two-factor authentication (a code from an authenticator app, in addition to your password) adds an extra layer of protection to your own Renta login.
Where to find it
Settings → Security → Your authenticator app section.
The Your authenticator app section with the Setup button
How it works
- Status badge — shows "Not set up" or "Verified" with a green checkmark, telling you whether two-factor is currently on for your account.
- Setup button — appears if you haven't set it up yet. Starts the enrollment flow, which shows a QR code and a secret key to scan into an authenticator app.
- 6-digit code input — during setup, enter the 6-digit code your authenticator app generates to confirm it's linked correctly.
- Confirm button — becomes active once you've entered all 6 digits, and turns on two-factor for your account.
- Disable MFA button — appears once set up. Owners and Managers can disable two-factor on their own account or someone else's.
Example
After scanning the QR code with an app like Google Authenticator, you'll type in the 6-digit code it shows to confirm setup — from then on, logging in asks for that code as well as your password.
Good to know
- If you lose access to your authenticator app, Recovery codes let you back in.
- An Owner can require two-factor for the whole team — see Requiring two-factor for your team.
