Showing fees and tax as separate line items

Choose whether the platform fee and tax are baked into the prices customers see, or only broken out at checkout.

Where to find it

Fleet → Pricing → Payment & Policies → Fee Display Settings

This setting controls whether the prices customers see while browsing (on fleet cards, in the booking widget, in the cart) already include Renta's fee and tax, or only show the plain rental price with the fee and tax broken out separately once they reach checkout.

Where to find it

Fleet → Pricing → Payment & Policies → Fee Display Settings.

How it works

  • Show fees and tax at checkout only — a single toggle.
  • Off (the default): every price shown while browsing already has the fee and tax built in, so what a customer sees before checkout is the real total.
  • On: prices shown while browsing show the plain rental rate, and the fee and tax appear as their own breakdown once the customer reaches checkout.

This never changes what the customer is actually charged — the total charged to their card is calculated the same way either way (see How a price is calculated). It only changes when and how the fee and tax become visible.

Example

A jet ski's rental rate is $200/day, with an $5 platform fee and $16 tax baked in. With the toggle off, browsing customers see "$221/day." With the toggle on, they see "$200/day," and the $21 in fee and tax appears once they get to checkout.

Good to know

  • The default behavior (fee and tax included in browsing prices) matches price-transparency requirements in many places — turning the toggle on is a deliberate choice you make, not something that happens automatically.
  • This is a single setting that covers both the platform fee and tax together — there is no way to show one separately from the other.
