Redirecting customers to an external app

Send every visitor to your public storefront to an outside URL instead — this replaces your entire Renta storefront, not just one button.

Where to find it

Settings → App Redirect

External App Redirect turns off your Renta storefront entirely for the public: once you set a URL, every single visitor to your storefront is sent straight to that URL instead of seeing any Renta page.

How it works

  • Redirect URL — the web address every visitor is sent to instead of your storefront. Must be a secure address starting with https:// — Renta will not redirect to a plain http:// address, and rejects one with an error.
  • Save button — stores the URL, with a confirmation message on success.
  • Clear button — appears once a redirect is saved, and removes it, turning your Renta storefront back on for visitors.
  • "Redirect is active" notice — appears once a URL is saved, confirming visitors to your storefront are being sent there.

Example

If you set Redirect URL to your mobile app's store listing, anyone who visits your Renta storefront — not just people looking for an app — is immediately sent to that app store page instead. Your Renta storefront effectively goes dark to the public while this is active.

Good to know

  • This is an all-or-nothing switch for your public storefront, not a single button — think carefully before turning it on, since customers can no longer book directly through Renta once it's set.
  • If you don't have a separate app or tool you want all traffic sent to, leave this unconfigured; Renta's own storefront and checkout work fine without it.
